WAGS R & D Committee Meeting

Committee Members Present: Lula Bauer ( Director ), Karen Parker,  Clarence Jones, Chris Mroczek.

Meeting Notes

 

Penalty Points Accumulation – MATT Team America Spirit  U17 D1 - 18 Total Penalty Points ( 13 Current + 5 Carry Over )

Team Members Present: Trainer, Head Coach, Players ( 6 ), and Parents.

 

The Trainer, who is also the MATT Director of Coaching, stated the team transitioned from Gunston SC six  months ago, and added that he received a team that did not have a good preparation to play in the Fall.  He mentioned that their roster included 6 new players, including player # 21 whom he cited is not used to play top level soccer.

 

The Head Coach stated that his philosophy is that it is OK to play with intensity, but at the same time, one should not get caught up with emotions.  In regards to player # 2’s conduct on the field, primarily a red card she received during the Fall season, as punishment, he decided not to let her be part of the team during the “Orange Classic” tournament in Florida these past holidays.  He also added that player # 2 is no longer a member of the team.

 

All players present explained their cards received.

 

The Committee appreciated and thanked all the members of the MATT Team America Spirit for being forthcoming with their Penalty Points explanation, and for taking full responsibility for their actions as well.

 

DECISION:

 

      With a unanimous vote the Committee agrees to:

 

1.        Written Letter of Censure.

2.        Develop Code of Conduct , Players and Coaches to Sign it, with a copy mailed to the WAGS R & D Director no later than April 2, 2005.

 

                The MATT Team America Spirit U17 D1 were informed that they have the right to appeal the decision of the WAGS R & D Committee according to Rule O, “Protests and Appeals Procedures”.

Penalty Points Accumulation – ABGC Dragons U17 D4 - 17 Total Penalty Points ( 13 Current + 4 Carry Over )

Team Members Present: Head Coach, WAGS Club Rep, Player, Parent.

 

                The Head Coach cited that his team does not play with bad intention nor it is an aggressive one.  He explained all the cards and added that he though they were all legitimate.  He cited that Player # 20 play with intensity, persistently commits fouls, and that he does not know how to mend this issue other than cutting her from the team.

 

                Player # 9 explained her red card citing that she threw an elbow to an opposing player.

 

                The parent stated that this was an unusual situation, and that the team had no history of Penalty Points.

 

                The WAGS Club Representative testified that the team’s parents are very good and that never show dissent.

 

                The Committee  appreciated and thanked all the members of the ABGC Dragons for being forthcoming with their Penalty Points explanation, nonetheless, the Committee regrets that the team failed to show a plan to remedy the significant accumulation of Penalty Points.

 

DECISION:

 

                The Committee decided the following:

 

1.        Written Letter of Censure.

3.        Player Jersey # 20 must sit out next WAGS game due to Penalty Point accumulation.

Penalty Points Accumulation – MCSA Pythons U17 D4 - 15 Current Total Penalty Points

Team Members Present: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Players, Parents.

 

                The Assistant Coach cited that the team won many Sportsmanship awards, and thus, has no history of accumulating Penalty Points.

 

                The Head Coach added that in his mind, the only thing he knows to do when a player gets a card is to pull her out of the game and talk to her.  He also mentioned that the team’s New Year’s resolution is not to get any cards.

 

                All players present recollected their actions and explained their cards.

 

                The Committee  appreciated and thanked all the members of the MCSA Pythons for being forthcoming with their Penalty Points explanation, nonetheless, the Committee regrets that the team failed to show a plan to remedy the significant accumulation of Penalty Points.

Penalty Points Accumulation – MCLN Arsenal U18 D1 - 25 Current Total Penalty Points.

Team Members Present: Head Coach, Players, Parents.

 

                The Head Coach cited that some of the cards his team received were deserved, however, some of them were not.  He added that the team has received several Sportsmanship awards, and that in his 15 years of coaching, this marks the first time he has to appear before a Rules & Discipline Committee.

 

                All players present explained their cards.

 

                The Committee  concluded and regrets that no member, player or coach, of the MCLN Arsenal took full responsibility for the significant amount of Penalty Points received, nor did they show a plan to remedy this situation while it was occurring.

 

DECISION:

 

The Committee decided the following:

 

1.        Written Letter of Censure.

2.        Player Jersey # 22 must sit out next WAGS game due to Penalty Point accumulation regardless which team she is rostered.

3.        The MCLN Arsenal is assessed a full WAGS League Fee to be received by the WAGS no later April 2, 2005.

 

The MCLN Arsenal were informed that they have the right to appeal the decision of the WAGS R & D Committee according to Rule O, “Protests and Appeals Procedures”.
