June 19, 2007

Committee Members Present: Lula Bauer ( Director ), Hap Kwiatkowski, Clarence Jones, Ruben Bolognesi ( Administrator. )

Meeting Notes

SYA Freedom U13 D1 – 17 Current Penalty Points.

SYA Freedom Team Members Present: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, WAGS Club Representative, Players ( 6 ), Parents.

The R&D Director welcomed the SYA Freedom and explained how the hearing was going to take place. Members of the SYA Freedom and the R&D Committee introduced themselves, ending with the R&D Director clarifying to the SYA Freedom that she will not have a vote on the Committee’s decision.

The Head Coach ( HC ) started the team’s testimony by offering no excuses for the amount of penalty points his team had accumulated.  He continued by explaining the yellow and red cards his players received, and mainly made reference to Game # 3623 played on April 29, where the team received 13 of the 17 Penalty Points accumulated.  The HC stated that frustration was the main reason for these 13 penalty points, and “it was just one of those games.”

The HC ended his testimony by saying that the Team Manager ( TM ) and Assistant Coach ( AC ), accountable for 7 of the 13 Penalty Points collected during Game # 3623, called him after the game to apologize for what happened, and later on did the same to the team and parents.

The TM wanted to fill out a referee evaluation card to reflect the Center Referee’s ( CR ) performance during Game # 3623, and went to meet the CR after the game to get his name, and that is where the altercation occurred, which resulted in his red card.

The AC explained his yellow card.

A Committee member made sure that the SYA Freedom knew that if it was not for the TM and AC, they would not have had to appear before the R& D Committee this evening.

The Committee appreciated and thanked all members of the SYA Freedom for attending the hearing. Furthermore, the Committee was pleased to see that most members of the team who earned penalty points took responsibility for their actions and were forthcoming with their testimony.  The Committee was disappointed with the testimony and attitude of the Team’s Manager.  However, it felt that it would not be fair to punish the players for the Team’s Managers lack or remorse.  Therefore, the SYA Freedom censure will simply be an official letter of censure.

Nonetheless, the SYA Freedom were warned about future penalty points, specially those related to inappropriate language, and were reminded that the team will be carrying over 8 penalty points toward the following season.

In closing the R & D Director thanked all involved for attending and informed the SYA Firecats U13 Division 1 that they have the right to appeal the decision of the WAGS R & D Committee according to Rule O, “Protests and Appeals Procedures”.
WALD Express - U17 D2 – 16 Penalty Points.

CRFT Wolves vs. VSA Heat - U14 D3 – WAGS Rules N.1.f and K10

VSA Heat Team Members Present: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Manager, WAGS Club, Representative, Parent.
CRFT Wolves Team Member Present: Team Manager, Spectator.

The R&D Director welcomed both teams and explained how the hearing was going to take place. Members of the VSA Heat, CRFT Wolves, and the R&D Committee introduced themselves, ending with the R&D Director clarifying to the both teams that she will not have a vote on the Committee’s decision.

The VSA Heat were sanctioned on May 3, 2007 through a Letter of Censure that included a forfeit loss to the CRFT Wolves for Game # 3926, based on the fact that the VSA Heat Head Coach failed to be “out of sight, out of sound” after being ejected from the above mentioned game played on April 1, 2007.

The VSA Heat appealed the WAGS R&D Committee decision to the WAGS Board of Directors based on a technical error.  The WAGS R & D Committee referenced the incorrect WAGS rule within the initial letter of censure ( Correct WAGS Rule should have been K.10 instead of K.12 .) The WAGS Board of Directors uphelded the VSA Heat’s appeal.  The WAGS BOD remanded the case back to the WAGS R&D Committee.

The VSA HC explained his red card and added that it was his intention to protect his players when he confronted the Center Referee during Game # 3926.  He continued by saying that after being ejected it took him more time than usual to leave the pitch because he could not find his keys.  When he did, he made his way to the parking lot and continued to watch the game from his car.  He ended his testimony by saying that he did not know the “out of sight, out of sound” WAGS rule, and that is why he stayed in his car instead of completely leaving the area.

After deliberation, the WAGS R&D Committee finds the VSA Heat Head Coach in violation of WAGS Rules K.10.  Game # 3926 will be recorded as a forfeit.
