 MINUTES OF WAGS AGM
Thursday, June 12, 2014

WAGS Board of Directors in Attendance:  Kathie Diapoulis, (President), Lula Bauer (VP) Sally D’Italia (VP Maryland), Pat Lusk (Treasurer), Amy Thompson (R&D Director), Kerry Diederich (Division Structure Director),  Mike Skigen (Technical Coordinator), Carmen Nicholas (VP Virginia),

Board Members excused:  Jim Bruno (Secretary)

Guest:  Mike Basileo (MSYSA State Registrar), Bill Lynch (Washington Spirit), Demosphere   

Also in Attendance:   Robin Miller (Administrator)

Clubs not present:  ALSC, BAC, CSC, DCST, EPIC, FPYC, FSC, GRFL, LFC, MUFC, NVSC, POT, PWSI, REST, RUSH, SYA, VIST, WSC

Kathie called the meeting to order at 7:00pm

Washington Spirit –

  • Bill Lynch spoke about the Spirit
  • League is stable
  • Want to build attendance and the data base

Adele Dolansky Scholarship (Carmen Nicholas)

  • Spoke about Adele Dolansky and how WAGS began
  • Thanked Adele and Kathie for their hard work
  • Introduced and spoke about each recipient. 
  • Names and picture on the web site

MSYSA State Registrar –

  • Transitioning to on-line registration
  • Paper work - upload photos, player proof of age
  • Photos 5 yrs. for team officials and 2yrs. for players
  • Information and guidelines on MSYSA web site.
  • E license for head coaches
  • Teams will be able to upload release request
  • Teams enter information and enter submit. Registrar will receive email. They will review and teams will get an approval email.
  • Mike believes that the players in the 2013-2014 data base will not need to submit proof of age.
  • Cannot use player pass as proof of age
  • Cannot print documents until approved online by their club’s registrar
  • Mike’s signature will be on all cards.

Demosphere –

  • Reviewed items being added to site
  • Discussed Roster Pro

Administrator’s Report –

  • Welcomed and thanked everyone for their hard work this season
  • Reviewed the new sit out procedure
  • Teams are beginning to send in STAR Reimbursement Forms
  • New code of conduct forms will be on the web site prior to the beginning of fall
  • Trophy list will be completed and sent to the company after all scores have been submitted.
  • Sportsmanship awards will also be completed and submitted after all scores are submitted
  • Teams must know what age group they want to participate by June 20. It is important that you list all teams on the fees forms. Teams returning, new teams and teams not returning.
  • Teams are not reporting scores as in the past within the 10pm rule. 3 clubs with teams still not reporting scores.
  • No need to request a number now that the club reps are the only ones permitted to enter the teams. If the teams do not have a number prior to submitting the fees forms, just put new next to the team name

President’s Report –

  • Board Reports will be emailed to all Club Reps
  • WAGS will be having a 40th party
  • Role of Executive Director is more difficult to fulfill than anticipated.  Board is reviewing options
  • EPDL
    • Researching US Club Soccer for a while
    • Less Red tape provides for more creativity and focus on the game, rather than the rules and regulations
    • Each member of the program will have their DOC sit on an advisory panel, which will create the charter, as well as the format for the game.
    • Program is based on the format used in the POD program, most of whom will be participating

New Club Entry Committee Report (Pat Lusk) –  

Bringing five (5) out of seven (7) applications to the Membership – Two did not meet qualifications

    • Answered questions from Membership
    • Membership voted to accept the Club in to WAGS
    • DSC, MRM opposed
  • Team America Football Club (TASC)
    • Answered questions from Membership
    • Membership voted to accept the Club in to WAGS
  • Baltimore Bays (BAYS)
    • Answered questions from Membership
    • Membership voted to accept the Club in to WAGS
    • LOUD, MRM, DSC opposed
  • Warrenton Youth Sports Club (WYSC)
    • Answered questions from Membership
    • Membership voted to accept the Club in to WAGS
  • Future Soccer Club
    • Answered questions from Membership
    • Membership voted to accept the Club in to WAGS
    • DSC, MRM, and LOUD opposed 

Proposed by-laws, policies, and rule changes were discussed and voted on.   

Meeting was adjourned at 10:30pm
