MINUTES OF CLUB REP MEETING

Kathie Diapoulis called the meeting to order at 7:30pm followed by roll call.

 

League Notes

 

Officers Report:   

 

R & D Director:  Lula reviewed the number of yellow/red cards for the U-11 and U-12 players/coaches.  In Spring 2002, the U-11’s received 24 cards; U-12’s received 33 cards and the coaches received 12 cards.  In Fall 2002, the U-11’s received 5 cards; U-12’s received 6 cards and the coaches received zero (0) cards.

 

VP Virginia:  Walt represented WAGS at the NSCAA Convention.  Michelle Morgan, from Amherst College was awarded the WAGS trophy this year.

 

Walt also thanked the division coordinators for calling in the scores on time.

Walt will be attending the VYSA Workshop January 24-25.  Top Soccer session will be held that weekend.

 

Administrator:  Robin reviewed the following with the membership:

 

Deadlines:

 

v        January 25 – All Forms/Checks

v        January 27 – Scheduling Requests Due

v        February 14 – Field Forms Due – Last day to drop with a refund

v        March 29 – League Play begins

v        April 19-20 – No League Games

 

On line Registration:  New teams entering the League and teams entering from Fall Sit Out with “A” temporary number, will need to be reentered.

Web Site:  The site has been down since Wednesday afternoon. Demosphere is working to switch their server from PSI Net.  Our site could be down for another 24 hours.  There are Club Rep Forms, TSL Forms and Fees Forms if anyone couldn’t down load them.  See Robin after the meeting.

 

New 800 Number:  WAGS has a new 800 number.  1-866-374-8430

 

End of Season Meeting:  The end of season meeting to pick up trophies will be held at the Tyson’s Corner Marriott.

 

President’s Report:

 

Leadership Workshop:  There will be a workshop in the winter for all Club Reps at the Tyson’s Corner Marriott on February 22nd beginning at 10:00am.

 

Region I Summer League:  Region I is kicking off its Summer League.  Applications are due Friday, February 28th.  You can download the application and learn more at www.region1.com

 

USYS Decision Regarding Small-Sided Games:  USYS voted to “strongly recommend that all State Associations begin instituting small-sided games for U-11 and U-12”.  At this time, it is not mandated.  WAGS will be collecting information from other State Associations throughout the country to see what the trend is before bringing it before the membership for review.  If anyone has any input regarding this matter, you may submit it the WAGS Office.

 

Good of the Game Award:  Every season there are horror stories about abusive parents, coaches, players and referees.  These are the stories that seem to make the headlines and general discussions.  What you rarely hear are the stories about individuals and/or teams that epitomize good sportsmanship.  Kathie would like clubs to submit any “good of the game” stories and select one to be awarded.  This award will be known as the “Good of the Game” Award.  It is important to draw attention away from the negative situations that occur and give more Prototype;JQuery;
