Kathie Diapoulis called the meeting to order at 7:30pm and roll call was taken.
LEAGUE NOTES
VP Virginia: Walt Lenar attended the NSCAA Convention and had to honor or awarding Adele Dolansky the Women’s Award of Excellence. He also stated that there will be a Positive Coaching Alliance in March for all new coaches and ALL U-11 coaches. He thanked all Board of Directors and Planning Committee Members for their tireless efforts during the WAGS Planning Session.
Treasurer: Mike Sybert stated that the taxes have been filed. Because the tournament is supporting the league and the league is loosing money, the league needs to look at breaking even and not depend on proceeds from the tournament.
Secretary: Pat Lusk asked for volunteers for the Consistency and New Club Committee.
R & D Director: Lula Bauer stated that the red and yellow cards went back up in the Fall 2003 season for the U-11 teams. She referred to WAGS Rule N.1d and N.2d regarding penalty point accumulation. Lula would prefer the club reps contact her regarding their team’s penalty points not the coach or other team members.
Administrator Report: Robin began by welcoming the new Club Reps. She reviewed the following information with everyone.
Deadlines: Robin reviewed the WAGS deadlines.
Fees and Forms – January 24th – WAIVE ALL SIGNATURES!!!
Ø WAGS Membership Form – Note sit-out and wait list teams
Ø Club Check, Money Order or Cashiers Check only
Ø TSL Forms
Field Forms are due – February 14th
Last day to drop with a full refund – February 14th
Team Contact Information: Robin reviewed the procedures on how to enter a new team.
Must add as a new team – computer will give an “A” number
Robin will change it to the “W” number.
Must use your pin number given to your by the club rep for tryout ads and updating
contact information.
Wait List Applications: Be sure to have your teams review the rules regarding entering a team on the wait . list. Their sister team must be in D3 or higher.
Switching Clubs: If you have teams coming to your club from another club in WAGS, you must send a
letter to the WAGS Office stating that your club has accepted them.
Scheduling Request Form: You are able to review the forms that your teams submitted. The teams are
able to submit one full day and one early/late day, the teams are requesting two
full days off. I will go into the system and delete those requests. There were
teams who entered requests to accommodate three coaching conflicts. That
request will also be deleted. Please have the teams review the rules.
Guest Speaker: Mike Basileo (FWAS), MSYSA State Registrar reviewed the dates and other issues
regarding MSYSA State Cup. He referred everyone to the MSYSA web site for Cup
dates (msysa.org). Roster freeze date is March 29 for teams U-17 and younger.
rostered players are not eligible for Cup play, however, they do not need
to be released. Teams who are U-19 may play U-18 Cup without dropping their U-19
players.

Tryout Information: Kathie stated that every team submitting a try out ad MUST submit their

Regionals: This year Regionals will be held in Rhode Island from June 30-July 5, 2004
Sub-Region I League: WAGS will be hosting a Sub-Region I League beginning in the Fall 2004 in order to increase the level of competition for the elite teams in WAGS and the rest of Region I. The League will provide competition for both males and females from some of the best teams in Region I. There will only be one division in each age group consisting of 8-10 teams per age group from U-13 through U-18. The League will be called SASS.
WAGS Planning Weekend: The Board of Directors along with a group of Club Reps. These Club Reps covered a wide variety of philosophies and state affiliations. The weekend was directed by two wonderful facilitators who helped us determine our goals and the work that lies ahead. The committee broke down as follows:
Communications: Michael Sullivan – Chairperson
Consistency and New Clubs: Pat Lusk – Chairperson
Staff Enhancement: Robin Miller –Chairperson
Referees: Kathie Diapoulis – Chairperson
Restructuring of WAGS: Henry Dubina – Chairperson
Fields: Mike Sybert – Chairperson
If anyone would like to volunteer for these committees, they are to contact the committee chairs.
New Club Entry
Ashburn SC was accepted into WAGS for the Spring 2004 season by a majority vote.
After the vote was taken a motion was made not to permit any new club entries until a criteria is set. The motion passed.

Good of the Game:
Rae Ann Taylor of LOUD has been voted Region I Girls Coach of the Year. Ms. Taylor coaches the LOUD Explosion (U-11 P) and LOUD Legend (U-12 D1). Congratulations
