Kathie Diapoulis called the meeting to order at and roll call was taken.
VP Virginia:VA President’s Cup is two years old.The application deadline is February 22 for the U15, U16 and U17 teams. VA State Cup Champions for fall 2010 Congratulations to the President’s Cup Champions and the VA State Cup Champions.
Local Virginia clubs are hosting continuing coach education.Information can be found on the VYSA web site. WAGS will give each coach a $150.00 stipend (once a year) after he/she completes the course.
VYSA Convention will be held January 21, 22 at the Hyatt Regency in Crystal City, VA.WAGS will have an interactive booth.VYSA Convention AwardLuncheon will recognize the winners.A list can be found on the VYSA web site.
Rules and Discipline Director: Yellow/Red Cards:Unfortunately we have seen an increase in the number of yellow/red cards issued from the spring 2010 to fall 2010.
VP Maryland:Washington Freedom was sold and moved to Miami.
President’s Cup:Teams will play in a single elimination tournament (U13/U17).State Cup:Format has changed.Please visit the MSYSA web site.
Adele Dolansky Scholarship will be on line on or about April 1.Please encourage the seniors within your club to apply.
Bob Dieterle: Bob reviewed the financials with the Membership
WAGS Administrator:Some Club Reps have asked why the fees forms are due prior to the meeting, By bringing the forms to the meeting may result in the forms getting misplaced or left at the hotel.Division structure is next week and all information must be entered.
STAR Checks -STAR checks have been mailed to the primary contact on record from the Fall 2010
Sportsmanship Awards – Sportsmanship award winners received a $150 check Next season we will be eliminating the pink Sportsmanship Award Cards..
Field Forms are due February 8th.
Request Forms due February 9th.
An email will be sent to all teams next week detailing the process regarding the scheduling request forms.
Tryout Ads – We are very excited to have a new tryout system.The system should be up and running within a few weeks.
Registration– Please have all teams, including sit out teams entered into the WAGS data base no later than Tuesday, January 25th.All teams need to be entered prior to division structure for the teams to be placed into a division.
President’s Report: WAGS had the honor of attending the Women’s Committee Breakfast during the NSCAA Convention in Baltimore.John Daley was the recipient of the Award of Excellence; Pat Lusk presented the award and a check in the amount of $5,000.00 (to donate to the charity of Mr. Daley’s choice) on behalf of WAGS
The Masters and Premier Bracket numbers have increased now to include some past WAGS participants,
WAGS will be starting a monthly newsletter in February (hopefully).
Mavis Derflinger, one of the original founders of WAGS, passed away late in 2010 The spring packets will include armbands for each team member bearing Mavis’s name on it.We ask that every team wear them on the designated date (yet to be determined) and that all matches that day are dedicated to Mavis.
Treasurer: Pat thanked the New Club Entry Committee for their hard work.He continued by saying that two clubs submitted applications; Boonsboro and PFA.Boonsboro was incomplete; PFA made a good presentation to the committee; however, the committee felt that they were duplicating fields and referees.Their application was denied.
