Robin reviewed the cover letter that was sent out in the beginning of January. Reminded everyone that they are to review all Team Membership Forms prior to sending them to the WAGS Office to make sure that everything is legible. She reminded everyone of the SAT Dates which are March 31, May 5, and June 2. There are no PSAT dates for the Spring. WAGS will schedule games on SAT dates for U-16 through U-19 for after 2:00pm.
Deadlines are January 30th for all forms except for Field Forms which are due February 16th. No forms will be accepted if they require a signature from the carrier.
The Field Forms are now available through your Club Rep site. The Reps are to email Robin if they need their password.
The following teams are to pick up the packets that were to be picked up at the November 21st meeting:
DSC, FPYC, MCSA, POT, DAV, BRYC.
Scheduling Request Forms
Club Reps are to notify their teams and explain to them that "one request" means just that. If you submit one and then on another date submit another one, the most recent one will override the old one.
Kathie thanked everyone who supplied WAGS with names of candidates for the referee certification and re-certification classes. She is in the process of collecting sizes for the uniform order. A few people have started their classes already and she is waiting for the rest to respond. She reminded the Club Reps that the reimbursement program is valid through February 28th. Anyone who has taken and/or paid for their own certification or re-certification classes and wishes to participate in the program must be identified by a club and sign a promissory not in order to qualify. Please make your members aware of this opportunity. She stated that we all must work together to make any progress in increasing the referee pool.
Kathie is doing a mass mail out to every family in the League about the lecture with Caroline Silby on February 28, 2001. Unfortunately because of a disagreement with the Sheraton Premier, Kathie has collected bids from four other hotels in the Tyson's Corner area. The location will be posted on the web site regarding the location.
Kathie reminded everyone that the VYSA workshop is February 9-10, 2001 and the MSYSA workshop is March 11, 2001.
New Club Entry
Kathie introduced Javier Zavaleta, President of Burke Athletic Club, Inc.
Mr. Zavaleta gave a short presentation on the club. He was then asked to leave the room while the Membership voted.
A motion was made to accept Burke Athletic Club, Inc. into WAGS. There was a second motion, then a discussion. After a long and sometime heated discussion, there was a call for the question. The motion was opposed. A large portion of the Membership felt that the area was already being well served by clubs in surrounding areas. They were also concerned that this was a brand new organization.
